Our
CLASSES

  • Public speaking is a skill that benefits children for life. Our Speaking in Public classes are designed to help learners overcome a task that daunts many – speaking confidently in front of an audience. In this course, students will write their own speeches, research topics, create visual aids, and present their speeches from memory (though notecards can be used if preferred). As they progress through the grades, your child will develop clear articulation, voice projection, and audience engagement techniques. They will also learn how to structure speeches effectively, giving them the tools to succeed in school and beyond.

  • In our Verse and Prose classes, learners build a wide range of skills, from speaking clearly and projecting their voice, to improving memory and understanding complex texts. This course not only helps with performance but also supports your child’s English literature studies, as they develop a deeper understanding of both poetry and prose. As they advance through the levels, students engage with texts creatively, using body language and expression to captivate an audience. For higher grades, learners explore sonnets, delve into the life and works of William Shakespeare, and discuss his lasting influence. They also have the opportunity to perform works by world-renowned writers, broadening their cultural and literary knowledge.

    Solo or Small Groups

  • In Acting learners develop their vocal, physical, and interpretive skills while they delve into characters and explore the background of dramatic texts. Alongside producing authentic performances of their chosen scenes, they also gain an understanding of the context and characters within them. For those that want to make their own work, our Devising Drama allows learners to create their own scenes from scratch. Provided with a list of themes to pick from, learners create the characters and write the scripts themselves. As they progress to the higher grades, learners will develop an understanding of dramatic structure and staging, using movement and mood, style, and space.

    Solo

  • Little Wren’s classes are designed for children aged 4-9, offering a fun introduction to performance through a range of funny poems. These engaging sessions help develop speaking and listening skills while nurturing your child’s imagination. Early exposure to poetry not only enhances reading abilities but also builds confidence in public speaking from a young age. At Little Wren’s, we create a supportive environment where your child can learn, grow, and express themselves creatively.
